The Duplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable comes with two concentric-lay stranded conductors, one insulated phase conductor, and one bare neutral messenger. Aluminum components of the cable are aluminum 1350-H19, an alloy that maximizes the conductivity of aluminum while adding strength for mechanical efficiency. The phase conductor is insulated with a standard polyethylene or crosslinked polyethylene jacket to protect the conductor from excessive dryness, moisture, and sunlight. The cable can handle up to 600 volts at temperatures between 75° and 90°C depending on the insulation type.
The Duplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable can be used as an overhead line, most commonly used for lighting. This cable is often used for street lighting and outdoor lighting situations. The cable can be used in construction areas for temporary service to power lightning and machinery as well. The option of standard polyethylene or crosslinked polyethylene insulation depends on the climate and weather conditions where the cable will be used. The standard polyethylene insulation can handle temperatures up to 75°C. This option is preferred in mild climatic regions where high heat is not an issue. Crosslinked polyethylene can handle temperatures up to 90°C and is preferred in more harsh regions such as desert or tropical regions.

The Triplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable is an assembly of three conductors; 2 phase conductors, and 1 neutral messenger wire. Conductors are made of concentrically stranded 1350-H19 aluminum alloy. The neutral messenger wire is available as a 6201-T81 aluminum alloy, all aluminum, and aluminum-clad steel reinforced conductor. This particular alloy is 99.5% aluminum with added metals such as zinc and copper for enhanced conductivity and strength. The Triplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable meets ASTM standard B-399 for 6201-T81 aluminum alloy conductors. Concentric strands are compressed to reduce the overall diameter of the cable. The Triplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable can carry up to 600 volts and can function in temperatures up to 90°C.
Triplex Aluminum Service Drop Cables are used to run power from utility lines to a residence or building's weatherhead. The weatherhead is a vertical pole that protrudes from the roof or from the ground, receiving transmission cables to pass them into the building or underground. The Triplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable cable is insulated with the option of standard polyethylene or cross-linked polyethylene. For installation in mild climates where weather is not a major factor, standard polyethylene insulation can be used in wet or dry locations, but should not be used in temperatures exceeding 75°C. For more arid or tropical regions, cross-linked polyethylene insulation is recommended as it can tolerate temperatures up to 90°C.
There is a lot of debate still going on as to whether copper is better for electrical purposes or aluminum. If price was not a critical factor, most would suggest going in for silver as it is said to be the best conductor of electricity but has a low strength. However, when it comes to electrical wiring, price is a factor, as is efficiency.
Applications:
To supply power from the utility's lines to the consumer's weatherhead. For service at 600 volts or less (phase to phase) at a conductor temperature of 75°C maximum for polyethylene Insulation or 90°C maximum for crosslinked insulation.
Construction:
Concentric strand or compressed 1350-H19 conductor, polyethylene or crosslinked polyethylene insulation, concentric strand AAC, ACSR or 6201 alloy neutral messenger.

The Quadruplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable is a 4-conductor assembly of aluminum alloy 1350-H19 conductors. 1350-H19 is a 99.5% aluminum alloy with added metals to increase the cable's conductivity, strength, and resistance to corrosion. The assembly includes 3 phase conductors and one neutral messenger wire that is available in 6201-T81 aluminum alloy, all aluminum or aluminum-clad steel reinforced. The conductors are insulated with a polyethylene jacket that protects the conductors from excessive heat, dryness, moisture, or other corrosive elements.
The Quadruplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable typically delivers power from a pole-mounted transformer to an individual residence or building where the service entrance cable connects with the service head. The Quadruplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable can be used in a wide range of climates with the ability to function in temperatures between 75°C and 90°C, depending on the insulation. The conductors are insulated with the option of a standard polyethylene or a crosslinked polyethylene. For installation in mild climates where weather will not likely be a factor, standard polyethylene insulation can resist heat up to 75°C. For harsher regions such as tropical islands or arid desert locations, the crosslinked polyethylene can handle temperatures up to 90°C.
